The Best Defensive Wing Pairings in the NBA

The game is changing and the league nowadays is increasingly making efforts to make defending harder and harder. With the ongoing changes in the game, it is very difficult to find two good defenders in one team. In this basketball scoreboards article I have brought together the best defensive wing pairings in the NBA:

Kobe Bryant and Ron Artest
Many people argue that Kobe’s career is almost over but he is still in form and is playing better than many of the players in the league. His age is certainly the main factor why people think he is reaching retirement, but the basketball scoreboards show that he is still performing far better than most of the young players in the league. Ron Artest, on the other hand, is also in his 30s and has lost much of his strenuosity and toughness, however, this pair has featured in 14 All-NBA Defensive teams during their careers. They have both managed to stay as one of the hardest defending pairs in the league and deserve to be known as one of the best defensive wing pairs in the NBA.

LeBron James and Dwyane Wade
James and Wade are undoubtedly the best defensive-wing pair in the league. LeBron is arguably the most athletic player in the league and is the best defender at the small forward position in the NBA. James has been a part of the All Defensive First Team for two consecutive years and was voted the 2nd best defensive player of the year. Wade does not have the height advantage of LeBron but he makes it up with amazing athletic qualities. He has the skills and power required to guard two positions at a time and is an incredible on-ball defender. They both are matchless and the deadliest defensive pair in the league. Defeating Miami Heat is quite difficult with the presence of these two amazing defenders.

Corey Brewer and Shawn Marion
Brewer is new to the Dallas Mavericks but is a highly-spoken-of defender. With a height of 6’8” he is still the fastest defensive wing in the league. In just 3.22 seconds he can run four quarters. In addition to this incredible speed, Brewer has the energy and commitment which will take him a long way in the league. His partner Marion is an excellent offensive player. He is past his prime but this offensive playing ability is the sole reason why he is still in the league. His stats are not what they used to be, but before drawing any conclusion about him one should keep in mind that his playing time has also decreased. Despite his age, he is still very athletic and is the best player at guarding three positions effectively.
